Alex J. Hagan Elected to American Board of Trial Advocates

Alex Hagan, head of the Ellis and Winter’s litigation practice, has been elected to membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).

ABOTA membership is by invitation only. Members are evaluated for, among other things, personal character, reputation, and trial experience. To be eligible for membership in the organization, a lawyer must have completed at least 10 civil jury trials to jury verdict or hung jury as lead counsel.

“I am honored and humbled to be counted among the ranks of this group of judges and civil trial lawyers,” said Hagan.

Alex Hagan is a trial lawyer whose practice includes product liability defense, as well as the defense of laboratories, hospitals, and individual health care providers. Additionally, Mr. Hagan has extensive commercial litigation experience, representing software manufacturers, retail chains, and other product manufacturers in contract, trademark, and employment disputes. He has considerable jury trial experience in tort and commercial matters in both state and federal court. Mr. Hagan serves on the  Board of Directors for the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC), the Board of Directors for Eagle International Associates, Inc., as Committee Chair for the Defense Research Institute (DRI) Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee, and was selected to serve on the faculty for IADC’s Trial Academy in 2015. Mr. Hagan has been listed as a local “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation, named in North Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine, and recognized by The Best Lawyers in America ® since 2006, having been named Best Lawyers’ 2015 Raleigh “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants.
