The IADC Corporate Counsel College, held each April in the United States, has an excellent history of bringing together in-house corporate counsel and their law firm counterparts to learn about the latest legal issues. The interactive programme has been so useful that several European IADC members have been inspired to create a second College with the same format but focused on European and international topics.

Thus, we are pleased to invite you to the inaugural International Corporate Counsel College on the afternoon of Thursday 22 May and the morning of Friday 23 May 2008.

On the first day, the College will address the practical issues in-house counsel face arising from the gradual Americanisation of litigation in both Western and Eastern Europe. The sessions will include expert assessment of the proposals to introduce an EU-wide class action system and the private enforcement of antitrust laws.

Europe is becoming the world's chief regulator and source of global standards, according to a recent issue of The Economist magazine, and on the second day, the College will consider how in-house counsel can help their companies deal with the implications of European regulation for their business.

We have already secured an array of high calibre speakers for the event including in-house counsel from the world's leading corporations, senior representatives from the European Commission and Parliament and leading figures from business groups involved in civil justice reform. The College should be of real interest to the in-house counsel of any companies who do business in Europe and their external legal advisers.
