IADC member Bruce M. Stanley, Sr., of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., has maintained Florida Bar Board Certification in Civil Trial Law for 30 years.

Board certification evaluates attorneys’ special knowledge, skills, and proficiency in various areas of law and professionalism and ethics in practice. Only 4,600 of Florida’s 93,000 lawyers have earned board certification. In Florida, only board certified lawyers may use the terms “specialist” or “expert.” In fact, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals shared that “the goal of the Florida Bar’s certification process is to recognize in various fields of specialization exceptional attorneys, meaning those who stand out from others in all of the ways that make an attorney outstanding.” Doe v. Florida Bar, 630 F.3d 1336.

Stanley handles appellate cases and practices civil litigation of all types, with emphasis on medical malpractice, aviation, products liability defense, and eminent domain. He also has an agency practice dealing with licensing and disciplinary issues before the Florida Department of Health, primarily involving the Florida Boards of Medicine, Osteopathy, Podiatry and Nursing, as well as the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, the Department of Insurance and the Department of Agriculture.

Stanley has received much recognition throughout his career. For nine consecutive years (2006-2014), he has been named to Florida Super Lawyers® magazine and was named "Fort Myers Area Best Lawyers Personal Injury Litigator of the Year" in 2009 by Best Lawyers in America. Stanley is also AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He is a member of the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Experimental Aircraft Association and Seaplane Pilots Association, International Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, and Lee County Bar Association. Stanley received his undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary (with high honors, 1970) and his law degree from the University of Virginia (J.D., 1974).
