Tucker Ellis partner Sherry Knutson has been elected a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers.
Established in 1965 and with a membership of approximately 700 trial lawyers nationally and internationally, the International Society of Barristers was formed to “recognize each era’s best advocates” and join together to support excellence in advocacy, the preservation of the adversary system, defending the right to trial by jury, and encouraging young lawyers to enter the field of trial practice. Membership is extended to those whose qualities include integrity, honor, and collegiality. Membership is by invitation only following a rigorous screening process that considers the lawyer’s ability, experience, accomplishments, and ethical standards as assessed by trial lawyers and judges.
Ms. Knutson has 20 years of experience in product liability and toxic tort cases, with an emphasis on defending pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Her practice ranges from multi-plaintiff, multi-jurisdiction litigations to single plaintiff cases. She has tried cases to verdict in Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey, and West Virginia and has served as national coordinating counsel in one of the largest pharmaceutical mass torts. She also has served as lead counsel in multiple coordinated proceedings involving pharmaceuticals in Chicago.
Ms. Knutson earned her law degree with high honors at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology and her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, at Marquette University, where she was Phi Beta Kappa. She is admitted to practice in Illinois, Wisconsin, United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Illinois, Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin; and the United States Court of Appeals, Seventh, Eighth, and Eleventh Circuits. She is ranked in the 2016 edition of Chambers USA at the nationwide level for Product Liability & Mass Torts, Who’s Who Legal 2016 in the areas of Life Sciences and Product Liability Defence, and is consistently listed among Illinois Super Lawyers®.
