The IADC Trial Academy is one of the oldest and most well respected programs for developing defense trial advocacy skills. This intensive program blends faculty instruction and demonstration with individual student participation. It is the ideal learning environment to enhance the advocacy trial skills of less experienced lawyers.

The IADC is taking a piece of the seven-day Trial Academy and creating the two-day Satellite Trial Academy. This program combines the expertise of IADC member faculty and the proven educational format and brings it right to your associates. It is the IADC's best trial practice program adjusted to fit into the busiest associate's schedule and budget.

The faculty includes Satellite Trial Academy Director Joseph W. Ryan, Jr. as well as Julie L. Atchison, Mary Barley-McBride, James A. King and William G. Porter II. Each group of four students will have one faculty member to offer instruction and advice.

For the Satellite Trial Academy, the faculty will demonstrate opening statements and direct and cross examinations of an expert witness. After observing faculty demonstrations and lectures, the students will have the opportunity to practice what they have learned through student demonstrations. The faculty will critique each student's exercises which will give them immediate feedback on their strengths and weaknesses and how they can improve.
