Archie Reeves Obtains Favorable Order for The New York Times Granting Review of Harper Lee Estate

March 5, 2018 05:23 PM

McDowell Knight Roedder and Sledge, LLC member and IADC Secretary-Treasurer Archie Reeves successfully represented The New York Times in challenging the sealing of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Harper Lee’s Estate.

At the request of the Estate’s personal representative, the Monroe County Alabama Probate Court had entered an order sealing the probate proceedings, including Ms. Lee’s will. Mr. Reeves, representing The New York Times, intervened and moved to unseal the probate case file.

On February 27, 2018, the Circuit Court entered an order vacating and setting aside that prior order, granting The New York Times and members of the public immediate access to Ms. Lee’s probate file.
