David J. Beck to Receive Texas Law Alumni Association’s Award for Lifetime Achievement

David J. Beck, founding partner at Beck Redden LLP, will receive the 2021 Texas Law Alumni Association’s Award for Lifetime Achievement. 

The Law Alumni Association presents its awards annually, recognizing the outstanding achievements of Texas Law graduates. When learning that he would be the recipient of this year’s award, Mr. Beck said, “Given the many other well qualified UT Law graduates, I am surprised, but very honored, to receive this wonderful award.” 

David J. Beck, formerly a senior partner at Fulbright & Jaworski in Houston, Texas, founded Beck Redden LLP in January 1992. Mr. Beck previously served as President of the State Bar of Texas (1995-96), President of the American College of Trial Lawyers (2006-07), President of the International Association of Defense Counsel (1991-92); and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Center for American and International Law (2011-15). He was named by the National Law Journal as one of the top 10 trial lawyers in the United States and one of the top trial lawyers in the Southwest. He has been included in The Best Lawyers in America© for over thirty years, in eight separate areas of litigation practice. 

In 2015, he was appointed to a six-year term on the University of Texas System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott. He has been named a “Distinguished Alumnus” of The University of Texas at Austin (2010); an “Outstanding Alumnus” of The University of Texas Law School (2000); and is a Life Member, University of Texas Law School Foundation Board of Trustees (President, 2002-2006). He is currently an Adjunct Professor at The University of Texas Law School.
