Mica Nguyen Worthy, a partner in the Charlotte office of Cranfill Sumner LLP, and Chair of the firm’s International Business Law Practice Group, participated in the October 2021 Fall Symposium for the Charlotte International Arbitration Society (CIAS) Virtual War Room on Hybrid and Virtual Arbitrations.

The continuing education conference provided best practices for dispute resolution processes and for handling evidence and proceedings in hybrid and virtual international mediations and arbitrations. Mica served as a moderator for the day-long event. Topics for the Virtual War Room included Virtual Mediation, Filing and Initiation of Virtual Arbitration, Selecting Your Arbitrator Initial Conference with Arbitral Panel, Information Exchange and Discovery Issues in the Virtual World, and The Virtual Hearing and Submissions.

The program was a success, in part, because of the ability to provide high-quality speakers’ presentations virtually via Zoom. The audience consisted of attorneys, arbitrators, mediators, in-house counsel, business representatives, and law students. Individuals were located not only in the Carolinas and other U.S. states, but also in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Kuwait, Nairobi, Bucharest, and Botswana. The program also featured “break out rooms” for virtual networking and informal discussions.

Mica is a founding Board Member of CIAS and currently serves as the Chair of the organization.
