Alex J. Hagan Appointed Chair of DRI Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee

Alex Hagan has been appointed as Chair of the DRI Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee. Mr. Hagan’s one-year term will begin at the conclusion of the 2015 DRI Annual Meeting in October. He previously served as the committee’s Vice Chair and as the 2012 Program Chair.

The mission of the DRI Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee is to be the "Standard of Care" for attorneys representing health care professionals and institutions. This goal is met in part through the committee's focus on education and skill development of members, through seminars, webcasts, and publications.

For more than fifty years, DRI has been the voice of the defense bar, advocating for 22,000 defense attorneys, commercial trial attorneys, and corporate counsel and defending the integrity of the civil judiciary. A thought leader, DRI provides world-class legal education, deep expertise for policy-makers, legal resources, and networking opportunities to facilitate career and law firm growth.

Alex Hagan serves as the head of the litigation group at Ellis & Winters. He is a trial lawyer whose practice includes product liability defense, as well as the defense of laboratories, hospitals, and individual health care providers. Additionally, Mr. Hagan has extensive commercial litigation experience, representing software manufacturers, retail chains, and other product manufacturers in contract, trademark and employment disputes. He has considerable jury trial experience in tort and commercial matters in both state and federal court. In addition to DRI, Mr. Hagan serves on the  Board of Directors for Eagle International Associates, Inc., as leadership for the International Association of Defense Counsel,  and was selected to serve on the faculty for IADC’s prestigious Trial Academy in 2015.  Mr. Hagan has been listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers Magazine and The Best Lawyers in America ® since 2006, having been named Best Lawyers’ 2015 Raleigh “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants.
