Artists, Crooks and Conmen: How to Tell Them Apart - When They're Different Presented by Mark Dalrymple at the Annual Meeting

April 25, 2012 12:00 AM
Mark Dalrymple, Chairman of the Council for the Prevention of Art Theft, is a specialist fine art loss adjuster who works for some of the biggest art insurers in the world. He has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stolen art and, liaising with the FBI, Scotland Yard and other police forces all over the world, has had to deal with violent crooks and devious conmen to do so. Would you like to know why people steal famous artwork that could never be put on show? How do they hide them? What are they are used for? How does one find the people and the art? How does one get the art back intact? He will tell it like it is in the mysterious world of stolen art recovery, discuss some legal conundrums and give some brief case studies which will reveal some of the reality of this work to which the public are not privy. All members and guests must respect confidentiality, and no photographs please, as Mark cannot allow press publicity about himself or the cases concerned both for reasons of professional secrecy and for his own safety.
