Beverly B. Godbey, a partner in the Dallas office of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Larry Schoenbrun Jurisprudence Award.

The ADL's Larry Schoenbrun Jurisprudence Award is presented each year to civic-minded legal professionals who promote fair and equal justice for all and demonstrate a devotion to the principles enshrined in the U.S. Constitution and the democratic values that characterize the United States. Ms. Godbey is the 22nd recipient of this prestigious award.

“I couldn’t think of a more deserving recipient of this award,” says Steve Good, Gardere’s Managing Partner. “Beverly has mastered the art of successfully balancing outstanding professional achievements with dedication to public service and it is a privilege to have her at the Firm.”

A partner in Gardere’s Trial Group, Ms. Godbey’s practice focuses on insurance coverage and recovery, commercial litigation, ERISA, and non-subscriber matters, among other areas. Earlier this year, she was elected chair of the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas following a three-way race. She currently serves on the Texas Access to Justice Commission and is chair of the Bar Leaders for Justice Committee, which is dedicated to increasing access to civil justice for low-income Texans.

Ms. Godbey also is a past president of the Dallas Bar Association and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. She is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Bar Foundation and a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, International Association of Defense Counsel, and American Law Institute.
