M.C. Sungaila, an appellate partner at Snell & Wilmer in Los Angeles, was honored by California Women Lawyers on October 10 with the inaugural Judith Soley Lawyer as Citizen Award.
The Soley Award is presented only when, in the CWL board's view, a worthy candidate is presented. Ms. Sungaila was the first to receive the award, which celebrates a lawyer who is an excellent, civil, and honorable lawyer; possesses a demonstrated commitment and passion regarding civic and charitable engagement; values compassion and empathy along with advocacy when addressing clients' individual needs; works to improve the legal system through education and involvement in bar associations; participates in the public life of his or her community, state, and nation; is a leader, a role model, and a mentor; and demonstrates a commitment of the mission of California Women Lawyers.
