Carl Anthony Maio Presents at Regulator-only NAIC Meeting

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) invited 30 year IADC member Carl Anthony Maio, Esquire, Partner and Chair of the Fox Rothschild Corporate Insurance Department, to make a presentation to a Regulator-only NAIC meeting held at the San Diego Marriott Marquis during the week of May 28, 2013. Carl's presentation, PowerPoint, and narrative prepared outline are entitled "How to Effectively Leverage Outside Expertise in Evaluating M&A Transactions or Capital Raises." In addition to Carl, the co-presenters were Stephen Johnson, Deputy Insurance Commissioner, Office of Corporate and Financial Regulation, Pennsylvania Insurance Department, and Anthony A. Latini, Jr., CFA, Managing Director - Investment Banking, Boenning & Scattergood, Inc. All three demonstrated leadership initiatives with respect to the complex Harleysville Insurance/Nationwide Insurance Merger and Acquisition demonstrating how to successfully manage what otherwise could have been a contentious regulatory transaction, and a contentious financial transaction. Carl was the lead insurance partner from Fox Rothschild representing Harleysville Group. The transaction enterprise value was $1.7 billion.

Throughout Carl's 30 year membership with the IADC, he has served in multiple capacities on many Standing and Substantive Committees, as well as the Defense Counsel Journal Board of Editors.
