David Wilkinson Was Successful in a Case Now More than 125 Years Old

David Wilkinson of Kennedys LLP, London was successful in the English Court of Appeal in a case brought under legislation that is now more than 125 years old - the Riot Damages Act 1886. This concerned the liability of the Metropolitan Police to pay for damage suffered by the owners and occupiers of an industrial warehouse during the London riots in August 2011. The loss to insurers of £60 million was said to be the biggest arson attack in Europe.
