Deirdre C. McGlinchey, member at McGlinchey Stafford, has been honored with the 2023 “Women of the Year” Award by New Orleans CityBusiness, in recognition of her business success and dedication to the community. The award recognizes leaders in the region based on criteria including professional and community involvement as well as career accolades. Honorees will be celebrated during a reception on November 6 at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Deirdre regularly represents domestic and international clients in products liability cases involving individual claims, class actions, and multidistrict litigation. She has handled matters involving construction, mining, and agricultural equipment; diesel and natural gas engines; industrial turbines; automotive design; marine propulsion systems; toxic torts; and medical devices. She has tried cases in state and federal courts throughout the country. “As a lifelong New Orleans native, being recognized among these fellow influential women is very meaningful,” Deirdre said. “I am grateful to live and work in this vibrant city and to contribute to its impact and legacy around the globe.”
Deirdre is active in the management of the firm and serves on the firm’s Policy Committee. She is also the former head of the firm’s General Litigation section and previously served as Chair of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.
Deirdre has served as Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands for over five years and is an active member of the Louisiana Consular Corps, having served on its Executive Committee for several years. She is a member of the Louisiana Chapter of the International Women’s Forum, an organization that connects women worldwide with the shared mission of advancing women’s leadership and championing equality.
Deirdre is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and the Louisiana Bar Foundation and has been named twice to the Irish Legal 100. She was honored with the New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law award in 2018, is ranked by Chambers USA in Louisiana Litigation: General Commercial and has been listed by Best Lawyers in America® for Litigation – Insurance, and Product Liability Litigation – Defendants since 2018.
