Communicating Across Cultures (CLE-Accredited!)
Wednesday, January 11, 2012
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. CST

Sponsored by the Product Liability and Diversity Committees

This one-hour webinar will focus on specific cultural traits that may impact your ability to communicate across cultures in the increasingly globalized legal marketplace. People have different attitudes towards the allocation and use of time, how direct or indirect they are in their speech and how they relate to others. In addition, people may use either cross-talking or sequential speech, engage in ritual opposition or utilize a more formal restrained form of dialogue, and may have very different perceptions of physical distance, handshakes and eye contact.

Our speaker, Nina Meierding, a former litigator, has been a full time mediator and trainer for over twenty-five years and has taught internationally to lawyers, mediators, corporations and governmental entities. She will bring real life experience to our discussion of working with other cultures and how this impacts your practice.
