IADC member Paul Cauley, a partner at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, will chair its national Class Actions Team, while partners Mike Daly, Matt Fedor, and Justin Kay will serve as vice chairs.

“Our new leadership team has extensive class-action experience in a range of industries,” said Andrew C. Kassner, Drinker Biddle’s chairman and CEO. “Paul, Mike, Matt, and Justin are highly accomplished lawyers and outstanding leaders. Each brings a unique skill set acquired over many years.”

The Class Actions Team defends clients in the automotive, energy, health care, insurance, pharma, retail, and utilities industries, and counsels clients on best practices for minimizing the risk of being targeted by the plaintiffs’ bar. Drinker Biddle has more than 50 lawyers with extensive experience defending consumer, wage and hour, antitrust, shareholder and securities, insurance, and products liability class actions.

“Before I joined Drinker Biddle nearly two years ago, the firm’s reputation for defending against the exceptional challenges posed by class actions preceded it,” said Cauley. “It’s an honor to now lead one of the top class action defense teams in the country, with great depth and geographic reach.”

Cauley is an experienced trial lawyer and class action attorney who regularly serves as national lead counsel in coordinated and multidistrict litigation throughout the country. For the last several years, he has led the defense of an automaker in all litigation arising out of the Takata airbag recall, which is the largest in U.S. history. He has served on the IADC Board, and as a faculty member and committee member for the IADC Trial Academy. He also is a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council.
