Be the Mentor and Sponsor Women Lawyers Need: A Candid IADC Conversation Sponsored by The Empowerment Collaborative

Thursday, May 20, 2021
01:30 PM - 02:30 PM Central Standard Time (US & Mexico)

Please join The Empowerment Collaborative, an initiative from the IADC Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, for a candid IADC conversation.

Join The Empowerment Collaborative at 1:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday, May 20 for a panel discussion.

Mentorship and sponsorship are the cornerstone of success and create key connections in the workplace. Very often, women lawyers report that their male mentors and sponsors have been guiding lights and cheerleaders for them. Yet, we can all recognize that there has been societal challenges in the wake of #metoo, which has led to new concerns and challenges for both men and women building these critical relationships in the workplace. The data confirms that since the #metoo movement, the number of men sponsoring and mentoring women has declined. Yet, multiple studies show that men who sponsor and mentor women often have access to broader networks and experience greater personal satisfaction. Women in leadership leads to better results for firms and companies.

Our panel of three esteemed and successful male sponsors and mentors will share their views on how men can effectively support their female colleagues and IADC friends, and why they must do so in order for more women to meet their professional goals and reach the rank of equity partner and General Counsel.
