Join the IADC at 1:30 p.m. CDT on Thursday, September 29 as we continue our diversity and inclusion discussions focusing on identifying ways each of us can become more than allies in the fight for social equality in the legal profession and social justice.
In 2020, 5% of all lawyers were Black – the same percentage as ten years earlier – but 13.4% of the U.S. population is Black. According to the 2021 Second Edition of the Model Diversity Survey Report, black attorneys experienced the greatest attrition from law firms in 2020 (approximately 23%). This panel will examine how stereotypes affect the hiring, promotion, and retention of black male attorneys in the practice of law and businesses. Our panel will share personal stories and concrete action items that you can take to become a better ally.
