Praying with Spencer & Kat Silverglate in a car at Palm Desert about whether I should change law firms; I did!
Meeting so many life long friends through the years - especially everyone at the BEST TRIAL ACADEMY ever - 2015 SilverGlatiators!

The family party at Whistler (1999) at the top of the mountain when President & First Lady Rex and Laurie Linder greeted everyone on horseback - wearing Royal Canadian Mountie outfits! (A bear also showed up at our party venue!)

Best IADC memory is attending the ball at the castle in Austria. The thought that I would ever go to such an event I know made my parents (who grew up in poverty) very proud. Neither they, nor I, could have imagined such a thing.

’03 Grand Wailea – Magic Johnson jogging on the beach high-fiving IADC kids and adults alike… John Travolta rolling through the Wailea rapids and introducing himself (LOL); ’05 4th of July fireworks over the Broadmoor’s Swan Lake followed by Katrina :(, followed by an incredible outpouring of love and support from our IADC friends; ’06 Rome – IADC’s “personal” tour of the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museum; ’07 The Big Island and the blue whales frolicking in the ocean like it was a Pacific Life commercial; ’09 – Return to the Broadmoor and admiring the beautiful mountains from the panoramic picture window while in the Nominating Committee conclave; ’10 Barcelona – the sites along the Barceloneta, the freshest fruit in the world in the La Rombla open market, Spain winning the World Cup and acting like…well acting like they won the World Cup; ’11 Vancouver – zip-lining across a river gorge with the Beebe boys, looking down at 300 foot drop and thinking “This is not a good idea!”; ’12 Grove Park Inn – Asheville being an “epicurean dream” and trying to explain to the Beebe boys (ages 15 and 13) why that was really cool; ’14 Vienna – waltzing in the Imperial Palace; ’16 Bermuda – loving every minute on the Pink Shores and showing off my knobby knees!

The trip to Italy and the taxi strike. Dan Cray and Jeannie Marchetti were standing in the baggage area when our plane landed. The phone rang and it was Gino who instructed Dan, "I need a bus yesterday." If I could write that in deep southern! Dan ran out into traffic and found some form of transportation for all of us. With joy and graciousness and then humor in the retelling... an amazing group...

The IADC member who most influenced me is John Penhallegon. Serving on his Trial Academy Faculty was a great honor and I found I learned more than I taught. John's pleasant demeanor, incisive analysis and immeasurable experience were inspirational to me and the other faculty members. This proved you can learn and improve after thirty years and gain an unexpected friend and mentor. Penhooligans!

The most rewarding aspect has been (surprise!) forming life long friendships with people that I otherwise would not have met. This organization has allowed me to travel to destinations I might not have chosen. Moreover, the common experience I have shared with my IADC friends has solidified our bonds in a way that simply working with someone could not.

The most rewarding aspect of my membership in the IADC has been the opportunity to share my professional life with my family. IADC members are not only the best attorneys that I know, they and their families are among the best people that I know, and it's been so wonderful giving my wife and kids the opportunity to meet and become great friends with so many wonderful people. We are truly an IADC family, and our family has been truly enriched by being part of the organization.

At Whistler in 2011, when John T. was auctioned off to dance at the Gala. My memory is not of watching him dance, but watching our daughter Eliza, who was 12, watching him dance, in horror!
