OSHA in the Healthcare World - What Have We Learned From COVID Inspections and What to Expect in the Future

OSHA has not traditionally focused its regulatory and enforcement efforts on healthcare practitioners, but political pressure at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic forced them into unfamiliar territory. OSHA is now an important regulator for all healthcare entities, including hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities, and home health providers. In May of 2021, OSHA issued an emergency temporary standard to cover COVID-19 prevention and response, and it has also renewed its focus on regulations that existed pre-pandemic but were rarely enforced. In this Webinar, we will discuss OSHA’s limited history in the healthcare world, its regulatory and enforcement changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the anticipated permanent regulations in the healthcare field. We will also discuss how to handle an inspection and what to do if your client receives a citation.

Key Takeaways:

  • OSHA is now an important regulator for all healthcare entities, including hospitals, clinics, long term care facilities, and home health providers.
  • Attendees will learn how to handle an inspection and what to do if your healthcare client receives a citation.
