Strategies for Enforcing Trademarks and Protecting Brands Using Customs and Courts Against Counterfeit Goods

The global economy has enabled companies to more easily source goods from around the world. But it has also resulted in a deluge of foreign counterfeit goods entering other countries, stealing revenue from brand owners, and diluting the value of their brands. But all is not lost. Trademark holders can employ multi-track strategies using their countries' Customs Service and courts to enforce their trademark rights and prevent the entry and sale of counterfeit goods.

During this Webinar, Peter Quinter (Gunster) and Sandy Wunderlich (Tucker Ellis LLP), an experienced trademark and brand enforcement attorney, will discuss multiple strategies, both to prevent counterfeit goods from entering your country and to stop the sale of those goods that reach your country from abroad or that originate in your country. Additionally, they will present strategies for avoiding cargo from being seized and the petition process to get seized merchandise released.

Key Takeaways:

  • Attendees will learn legal strategies for protecting brands.
  • Attendees will learn parallel strategy of using Customs Services to prevent the import of counterfeit goods.

PRESENTERS:
Peter A. Quinter, Gunster, Miami, Florida USA
Sandra J. Wunderlich, Tucker Ellis LLP, Saint Louis, Missouri USA
