IADC members Gordon Sproule and Jennifer Segers, along with Alex Parish, all Huie attorneys, secured a defense verdict for a long-term care facility in a medical malpractice case on March 3, 2020. The case was tried before an arbitrator in February 2020.
The personal injury action was brought by the family of a nursing home resident who fell in her room and sustained facial injuries. Plaintiff claimed that the facility failed to provide adequate supervision of the resident during the time at issue. However, during the three-day arbitration, defense counsel proved that the facility met the standard of care as to supervision. Thus, the Arbitrator returned a verdict for the Defendant long-term care facility.
