John E. Cuttino, a shareholder at Turner Padget Graham & Laney, P.A., has been inducted into membership of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and was sworn in as a new member on January 31, 2013. Mr. Cuttino is a shareholder in the Columbia office and has practiced law in South Carolina since 1982. His practice includes the defense of major personal injury, construction defect, products liability, and pharmacy liability cases. He earned his undergraduate degree from Wofford College and his law degree from the University of South Carolina.

Membership in ABOTA is by invitation only, and fewer than 7,000 trial attorneys nationwide hold membership in the organization. After being recommended and sponsored by an existing member, prospective members must complete a comprehensive membership application which specifically documents a minimum number of jury trials. ABOTA strives to have a relatively equal number of plaintiff and defense attorneys as members. The mission of ABOTA is to promote the civil jury trial right as provided by our Constitution, elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession, aid in the education and training of trial lawyers, and cultivate a spirit of loyalty, fellowship, and professionalism among its members.
