John Penhallegon Received Defense Verdict in Medical Malpractice Case

IADC Board Member John R. Penhallegon recently received a defense verdict in a medical malpractice case pedning in the Circuit Court of Maryland for Frederick County. The case involved a 35 year old plaintiff who alleged permanent injury to her upper extremity secondary to nerve injury allegedly associated with the use of an electrocautery during surgery. The plaintiff claimed over $1 million in future economic damages as well as permanent disfigurement. The jury deliberated for two hours before returning a verdict finding that the defendant plastic surgeon did not breach the standard of care.
