Mark P. Scheer, Founding Partner of Scheer Law Group LLP, recently obtained a big trial victory.
Mark was involved in monitoring a very large traumatic amputation and impalement case pending against Spokane County, and eventually ended up running a mock jury on the case/fact pattern about eight weeks before trial. The mock jury exercise confirmed the defense approach, and so it was recommended the case go to trial. One week before trial, Mark was asked to associate as counsel, and sit at counsel table and try the case with appointed defense counsel.
Plaintiff’s undisputed past economic loss was $1.5 million, including over $500,000 in past medical expenses. Total past and future economic damages (undisputed) totaled more than $3 million. Plaintiffs demanded $11 million prior to trial. After 3 ½ weeks of trial, the jury returned a defense verdict in less than one hour after commencing deliberations!
