Mary Schmid Honored as Top Indianapolis Attorney

Mary Schmid, President, Stewart & Irwin, p.c. was nominated and named to the Indianapolis Business Journal’s (IBJ) list of Who’s Who in Law. IBJ states the selection is conducted by a nomination process through a variety of means and vetted by peers, culminating in the publication of the final list. Mary is one of only 41 legal professionals that gained recognition via this prestigious list.

Mary practices in the areas of commercial and complex litigation. Mary prosecutes and defends complex commercial litigation cases for both large and small business clients with various legal disputes in the federal and state courts in Indiana. The courtroom is not Mary’s preferred venue for solving the client’s problems. “Although I am a trial lawyer and enjoy trying cases, I am happiest when I can successfully negotiate a resolution prior to any lawsuit being filed,” she says. Mary’s clients are owners and representatives of businesses of all sizes in several fields.

“I like the variety of my cases and that each one is a challenge,” she says. “I really enjoy learning about my clients’ businesses and understanding how those businesses work. It’s critical to helping them succeed.”
Mary earned her doctor of jurisprudence degree from the Indiana University School of Law. She is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American Bar Associations. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana and the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
