Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that M.C. Sungaila, a partner in the firm’s Orange County office, has been chosen by OC Metro Magazine as one of the “Top 20 Women to Watch” in 2011.

OC Metro’s “Top 20 Women to Watch” list, published annually, is composed of Orange County’s most
dynamic females who play a significant role in advancing the county in business, education and the
nonprofit world. Each candidate is nominated by their peers and then selected by OC Metro. This year,
Sungaila was the only lawyer named to the list, which included New York Times bestselling author
Alyson Noel and President of Vanguard University of Southern California, Carol Taylor.
“I am honored and humbled to join this amazing group of women on such a prestigious list. I am inspired
to continue my efforts to make a positive impact on the legal and business community of Orange
County,” said Sungaila.

The OC Metro list highlights some of the many reasons Sungaila is an influential woman to watch in
Orange County, including the filing of her first legal brief in the U.S. Supreme Court in a high-profile
winning case at the age of 29. In over a decade of appellate practice, Sungaila has successfully argued
appeals for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to leading human rights and women’s rights
organizations.

Sungaila’s appellate work includes a 2009 pro bono win in the Inter-American Court of Human Rights
against Mexico that has been described as “one of the most important legal victories for international
women’s rights in decades.” Last month, Sungaila also was recognized by the National Law Journal as
Appellate Lawyer of the Week for her amicus work on the closely-watched Wal-Mart v. Dukes U.S.
Supreme Court class action case.
