M.C. Sungaila, a partner at the appellate law firm Horvitz & Levy, was named one of the top 100 women litigators in California by the legal newspaper the Daily Journal. The 2010 list is composed of female partners throughout the state who, in the past two years, have worked on “cutting-edge cases in their field” and made “an impact” on the law.

M.C. was nominated for the list by the board of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, who described her accomplishments as follows:
M.C. Sungaila has won cutting-edge toxic tort and women's rights cases in California, nationally, and internationally. In 2009 alone, she won every published decision she argued or briefed. Her appellate work for clients including ExxonMobil, Chevron, Honeywell, Amnesty International, and Human Rights USA has defined the scope of the duty to warn sophisticated users of product hazards, set the guidelines for admitting expert testimony at trial, overturned multimillion dollar judgments, and helped secure important rights for women and girls.
