Michael Aylward, a partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP, has been elected to serve as the new President of the American College of Coverage Counsel. The ACCC is an invitation only, peer-reviewed association of the 300 leading practitioners of insurance coverage and bad faith law in the United States and Canada. Since its founding in 2012, the College has taken a leading role in improving civility and scholarship and in developing educational programs and resources for law schools, judges and mediators concerning insurance coverage and bad faith law.  Its membership is equally divided among outside counsel who represent insurers and policyholders in these cases.

“My hopes and goals for the coming year are to build on the accomplishments of our past leaders, by raising the profile of the ACCC within the legal community and making it a fraternal organization in which the best of the best can share ideas in a way that instills civility in our dealings inside and outside of courtrooms and raises the bar for our practice,” states Aylward. “Given the diverse backgrounds and incredible depth of our College’s members, we have a real opportunity to make the ACCC the premier thought leader in the field of insurance coverage and extracontractual liability litigation.”

Aylward chairs the firm's complex insurance claims resolution group. In addition to his leading role in the creation and evolution of the ACCC, Aylward has served in leadership positions in the principal organizations representing the insurance defense community, including DRI, FDCC, IADC and the Massachusetts Reinsurance Bar Association. His new appointment as President of the ACCC is added to a strong portfolio of Aylward’s well established involvement in the industry.
