Governor Dannel P. Malloy recently appointed Murtha Cullina Partner George A. Dagon, Jr. (Glastonbury, CT resident), to serve as a member of the Connecticut Insurance and Risk Management Board.

The mission of the Insurance and Risk Management Board is to protect property and assets of the State of Connecticut, as well as to minimize the financial impact of liability claims not precluded by sovereign immunity, through comprehensive and cost-effective insurance and loss prevention programs. The Board serves as the focal point of all non-employment related risk management and insurance matters affecting the state and its agencies and departments.

Attorney Dagon co-chairs the Murtha Cullina tort and product liability group, devoting much of his practice to the trial and appellate defense of claims against companies engaged in manufacturing, transportation, chemicals, and health care businesses. In addition, he represents business policyholders in insurance coverage issues arising from claims of general liability, product liability, and professional liability. He also has substantial experience in the area of probate litigation, where he handles fiduciary duty disputes, will contests, and other trial work involving trusts and estates.

Mr. Dagon has been a partner of Murtha Cullina LLP since 1988, and has previously chaired the firm's litigation department and recruitment committee. He is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in Connecticut, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, First Circuit, and Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation and of the Connecticut Bar Foundation, and he has served as a Special Master in Connecticut federal courts. In addition to being a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, he is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the National Association of Railroad Defense Counsel, the American Bar Association, the Hartford County Bar Association, and the Connecticut Bar Association, where he serves on the Executive Committee of the Litigation Section. He has been selected to Connecticut and New England Super Lawyers each year since 2008, and has been recognized as a Connecticut litigation star by Benchmark Litigation. Formerly an officer and board member of Neighborhood Legal Services of Hartford, he now serves on the board of the Greater Hartford Legal Aid Foundation. Mr. Dagon graduated cum laude from Yale University, where he was a member of the world renowned singing group, The Whiffenpoofs, and he earned his law degree from the University of Virginia.
