On Saturday November 29, S. Stuart Clark, Partner at Clayton Utz, was elected President-Elect of the Law Council of Australia. He will serve as President-Elect in 2015 and President in 2016.

The Law Council of Australia (LCA) is the peak representative body of the legal profession in Australia. It represents the legal profession at the national level, speaks on behalf of the profession on national issues, and promotes the administration of justice, access to justice, and general improvement of the law. It plays a key role in the administration of the legal profession through its appointees to the Uniform Legal Services Council [the newly established national regulatory regime] and its Admissions Committee and in drafting model rules for use in both the Uniform regulatory scheme and by other states and territories.

The LCA also advises governments, courts, and federal agencies on ways in which the law and the justice system can be improved for the benefit of the community. It represents the Australian legal profession overseas and maintains close relationships with legal professional bodies throughout the world.
