Sheryl Willert Awarded Most Powerful and Influential Women Award by the Washington Diversity Council

IADC member Sheryl Willert has been honored with the Most Powerful and Influential Women Award by the Washington Diversity Council. The award recognizes women who have achieved a high-level of personal success and have made it possible for others to easily follow in their path. She was presented the award at a ceremony held at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront on March 25, 2014.

The National Diversity Council is the first non-profit organization to bring together the private, public, and non-profit sectors to discuss the many dimensions and benefits of a multicultural environment. The National Diversity Council is a forerunner of community-based, national organizations that champion diversity and inclusion across the country. The mission of the organization, which was launched in 2008, is to be both a resource and an advocate for diversity and inclusion.

Ms. Willert has received numerous distinctions for her efforts in promoting diversity throughout the workplace. In 2013, she was named to On Being A Black Lawyer’s "Power 100" list, a compilation of the nation’s most influential black attorneys working in government, academics, and both the private and public sectors. In 2011, Ms. Willert received the Loren Miller Bar Association’s Pioneering Woman Award, presented to African-American female attorneys who are trailblazers in the legal profession. In 2010, Ms. Willert was honored as one of the Women of Power in Law at the Women of Color Empowered event hosted by the Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation. In 2009, DRI-The Voice of the Defense Bar, the nation’s largest organization of civil defense attorneys, renamed its Pioneer Diversity Award after Sheryl J. Willert. The award, now known as the Sheryl J. Willert Pioneer Diversity Award, recognizes an individual attorney for his or her demonstrated commitment to diversity in the legal profession.

Ms. Willert is a member in the Seattle office of Williams Kastner and is past managing director of the firm. She represents clients in complex commercial litigation, employment law and counseling, investigations and alternative dispute resolution. She is a national speaker and author on such topics as sexual harassment, age discrimination, and race discrimination.
