Veteran life insurance and ERISA/financial services litigation attorney Elizabeth (Lisa) Bondurant recently joined Womble Carlyle’s Atlanta office.

Bondurant has a great deal of experience representing insurance companies, financial institutions, employers, ERISA plan fiduciaries, third-party administrators, and managed healthcare entities in complex cases involving such issues as:

• ERISA , with Bondurant’s team litigating many major ERISA cases in the 11th Circuit;
• RICO;
• Life, health, disability, and accidental death benefits;
• Broker, producer and agent disputes; and
• Managed care issues.

“Life insurance and financial services litigation increasingly have become points of emphasis for our firm, so it makes sense to bring such a strong team in these fields to Womble Carlyle,” said Michael Sullivan, Managing Partner of Womble Carlyle’s Atlanta office. “Lisa and her team have developed longstanding and deep relationships with life insurers, and those are the types of client relationships we value at Womble Carlyle. Lisa…[will] also greatly enhance our ERISA and fiduciary litigation practice.”

Bondurant’s professional leadership includes formerly serving as Chair of DRI’s Life, Health, and Disability Committee as well as the Life Insurance Committee of the American Bar Association’s Tort and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS). She is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Association of Life Insurance Counsel.

Bondurant said, “Life insurers increasingly are looking for law firms that can assist them in multiple areas, and Womble Carlyle has the resources and talent to represent insurance companies in a wide range of issues across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. The firm’s footprint and litigation resources are a good match for our clients.”

In addition, Bondurant is a frequent speaker and writer on financial services, insurance, and ERISA topics.
